Mission Statement
The mission of the Slaton I.S.D. Food Service is to administer School Board Approved Food Service Programs according to the guidelines of the National School Lunch and Child Nutrition Programs and the goals of the National School Lunch Act of 1946, the Child Nutrition Act of 1966, the School Breakfast Program of 1977 and the Texas Public School Nutrition Policy.
The main goal of the Food Service Department is to provide reasonably priced, nutritious meals to all students and to implement the Food Service programs in such a manner that they will contribute to a better understanding of good nutrition, health and good food habits. School Food Service is a non-profit function.
Meals served to students will be prepared following approved menus and standardized recipes and will be designed to appeal to the taste of students as well as to meet their nutritional requirements.
