Cathelene Thomas Elementary
Computer Lab East

This computer lab is basically for 2nd & 3rd graders.  We do several computer programs that teach students, Math, Reading, Technology and Typing.  Computer Lab East has a program called Study Island, this is a website that can be access at home with the internet, which helps 3rd grade in preparing them for TAKS.  It is designed with questions and multiple choices and can play games if your comprehension is above a certain level. The website is www.studyisland.com, and each students has their own username and password. It has a 2nd and 3rd grade levels.
We have a program called Plato Pathways that helps our students with math and reading.
They learn typing in a program in the internet that they can also access through the internet at home, which is www.powertyping.com.We have a technology program called TK Grade k (kinder) 1 (1st grade),2 (2nd grade), 3 (3rd grade) for each grade level.  This teaches them the parts of a computer and how to use and treat your computers.  From opening and closing a documents to saving, and printing. It is a very important program for students just learning about computers.

We also have a program  called Reading Counts. This program, is helping our students in reading and comprehension.  Reading Counts (RC) is a program where a student can read and take test for points, which they can use towards the RC Store and RC Parties.  We have 2 RC Parties for 1st grade and 2 RC Parties for 2nd & 3rd grade. We have 3 computer labs and the CTE Library, where students and take test.  We are opened from 6:45am-5:45pm Mon.-Thurs. and 6:45am-3:30pm on Fridays, for students to test.  This is a very exciting program for the students at CTE.  It is unbelievable how many books they read as a grade level, and even more amazing how many books read as a school. They read for points for parties, to the movies,  park, and Joyland Amusement Park.  Every December,  the Reading Counts program, does the Thomas Tiger Christmas Shoppe to help with the funding.  We also have a Fundraiser every two years, to help pay for the movies, Joyland, prizes & etc.
