Hello,
I would like to take a few minutes to introduce myself. This is my tenth year at Slaton ISD. I got my degree from Texas Tech University and started my first teaching job in Lamesa, Texas. I taught first grade. I then moved back to Lubbock and taught three years at Preston Smith Elementary. While I was at Preston Smith I got thirty hours in gifted education. I moved from Lubbock to Seminole. There I spent eleven years and taught the gifted students. The summer of 1992, I went to Sol Ross University in Alpine and earned the Gifted Education Certification.

Here at Slaton, I teach the gifted and coordinate several other programs including AVID, SHAC/SDFSC, RTI, 504 and science fair. Please read more about the program here on the web site by looking up The Gifted Program.

I am married to a wonderful man, Dennis Janke, and I have two step-daughters Hailey 12 and Sydney 9.  I have two sons, Jayme and Joshua Crawford. Jayme is married and lives in Seminole with his wife, Kelly, and two sons: Brody and Kanyon. Brody is in second grade this year. Kanyon is three. Jayme works for a gas processing plant and company called Hess. Kelly is the office manager at Power's Diesel for her father Johnny Powers. Joshua is attending South Plains College and working toward being a paramedic and a fire fighter. He works for Transitions Learning Center with brain trauma patients.

My parents are Hal and Gene Singleton. They are wonderful generous people, who have taught me well. I have an older sister named Shelley and my brother-in-law is Ronnie. We are a very close family. I know how important family is and I want to thank you, parents, for sharing your children. They are the true gift in education!!
