Stephen F. Austin Intermediate’s slogan is, “Dive in to Learning“. Our dual goals at this 4th and 5th grade campus are the development of excellence in academics and the development of exemplary character. Our students and staff begin each day focusing on their goals in an all school assembly. This allows students and staff to be united in purpose as a community of learners. Parents and the community are considered to be part of our team and are encouraged to participate in our many activities. Some of our special activities include: Star Reading, Character Counts! Assemblies and media shows, Newcomb Tournament, Buddy Field Day, Parent Appreciation Luncheons, Honors Choir, I BEAT SFA, FISH packs, and UIL competitions. During the Tiger Football season SFA students host Friday morning pep rallies for the varsity players. These spirited assemblies include chants, player and student challenges, and singing of the school song. Our Positive Behavior System includes an effective school wide management plan that is proactive and positive. Team SFA has worked together to organize the unstructured areas of the campus. To focus on learning, our staff has attended and practices differentiated instruction, co-teaching, inclusive education, response to intervention model, and CHAMPS. Team SFA is working to identify and maximize student’s strengths along with addressing student’s needs. Our students participate in many reward programs. Positive rewards include: notes home, Tiger Tracks, CLUB 21, and Tiger Café and picnic with the Principal. Our goal is to provide each student with a positive environment that fosters’ learning. Most importantly, SFA students will make positive contributions as productive citizens to our Slaton community.
