Tigerette Softball

Please congratulate Malory Cofield for being name 1st Team Academic All State for softball as well as Bailey Garcia who received 2nd team Academic All State. To be named to an Academic All State team, you must have a 94 or higher GPA and be a Senior, so these young ladies have made their grades a priority for the last 4 years.


The Tigerette Softball team will be playing Alpine in the Area round this Friday and Saturday in a best of 3 game series in Stanton. The game on Friday will begin at 6 pm and Slaton will be the Home team. Game 2 will begin at noon on Saturday and we will be the visiting team, game 3 will begin 30 mins after if needed. Adults will be $3 with Students being $2.


Our baseball team is in the bi-district round and will be playing Childress in Ralls tomorrow at 5pm.

Boys Track
Slaton Boys Track competed this past weekend at the Regional Track Meet in Abilene. 

Quevon McDaniel competed in the triple jump and made finals. He had a personal best jump of 44'1 and finished in 6th place.

Ethan Rivera competed in the discuss and made finals. He had a personal best throw of 151'1 and finished in 4th place (missing 3rd by 2inches).

The Tigerette Regional Qualifiers traveled to Abilene to compete in the Region 1-3A Track Meet on Friday April 27 and 28, 2018 at Abilene Christian University.  Prelims Friday for the Tigerettes consisted of the 4x100m Relay, 4x200m Relay and the 200m Dash.  The Tigerettes qualified with the best time in the 4x100m Relay and 4x200m Relay.  Ta’kaja Robinson and Kamryn Gibbs both qualified for the 200m Dash.

Finals were Saturday. 
Long Jump: Quanasia McDaniel was our lone long jumper and finished 12
th in the region. 
Triple Jump: Quanasia McDaniel had a great day and finished in 7
th. Ta’kaja Robinson had her best jump of the year jumping 36’9.5” just missing the medal stand coming in 4th.

4x100m Relay: Kamryn Gibbs, Zanady Coronado, Quanasia McDaniel, and Ta’kaja Robinson made up the relay and finished 1st running a 49.33.

800m Run: Freshman, Mary Jo Parker ran the 800m run. She ran one of her fastest times of the season (2:30.59) and finished 8th in the 16 athlete field.

4x200m Relay.  The same squad, Kamryn, Zanady, Quanasia and Ta’kaja crossed the line in 1stwith a time of 1:43.33.

200m Dash:  Ta’kaja Robinson finished 3rd and Kamryn Gibbs finished 4th.

4x400m Relay: The Tigerettes were leading in team points.  With no 4x400m Relay there was a chance we wouldn’t retain the lead.  At the end of the 4x400m Relay, we found ourselves in a 3 way tie as Regional Team Champion with Wall and Spearman. 

The Tigerettes will run in Austin on Friday May 11, 2018.  The 4x100m Relay will be at 5:00pm and the 4x200m Relay is at 6:25pm.

Tigerette Track Team 

The Tigerette Track Team competed at the 74th West Texas Relays. The Tigerettes finished with 172 points and are the West Texas Relays Division II (1A-4A) Champions.  The Red was on the podium a lot. Canyon High School set the West Texas Relays Meet record for the 4x200m Relay in 2004.  The Tigerettes broke that record Friday with a time of 1:45.05.  This team is moving well this year.  We will get faster and stronger from here.  The Tigerettes travel to Seminole for the TRIBE Relays on Thursday March 22, 2018.

The baseball and softball teams are holding a raffle fundraiser. The teams are raffling off a side of beef that will be processed by Klemke’s. Tiger Nation 2017 Cross Country Regional Competition Results

The Tigerette and Tiger Cross Country teams ran at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock for the final time this season. They both ran against some of the fastest and most competitive schools in the state.  The Top 4 Teams and Top 10 Individuals move on to compete at the 3A State Cross Country Meet in Round Rock on November 4, 2017.

The Tiger Team consisting of Tannon Cearley, Ty Kinch, Zach Gonzales, Micheal Solis, Israel Herrera and Josh Flores fought hard on the 3 mile course.  The guys finished 11th in team points total in the 24 team region.  Out of the 177 runners, Tannon Cearley finished in 29th with Ty Kinch coming in on his heels in 30th.  Freshman Zach Gonzales came across the line in 52nd.  Israel Herrera, Micheal Solis and Josh Flores all finished with a strong showing to end the season.  

The Tigerettes were shooting to qualify as a team for the second year in a row but came up a little short.  They came in 8th as a team.  Against 175 competitors Mary Jo Parker was the standout runner of the day coming in 3rd to earn a spot on the medalist podium and qualify for the State Meet in Round Rock.  Alice Cogburn finished shortly after the pack with Aryanna Zapata and Kelsea Crow finishing seconds behind.  Kamryn Gibbs, Takaja Robinson and Grace Parker finished within a minute of their teammates.  

Mary Jo will represent the Tigerettes on November 4, 2017 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Texas.  Race begins at 1:30pm.
