Tigerette Track
The Tigerettes competed at the Regional Track Meet at ACU on Friday and Saturday.

There were 2 heats of each running event in prelims.  The heat winners and the remaining top 6 times advanced to the finals. At the finals, the top two advance to the State meet in Austin on May 10, 2019.

Friday Ta'kaja Robinson competed in the Long Jump and placed 2nd with a jump of 17'7".  Both the 4x100m Relay  (Kamryn Gibbs, Zanady Coronado, Xazari Naylor, Ta'kaja Robinson) and 4x200m Relay (Kamryn Gibbs, Zanady Coronado, Natali Soto, Ta'kaja Robinson) advanced to finals by winning their heat. Ta'kaja Robinson advanced to finals in the 200m Dash as well. Xazari Naylors 100m prelim time was just short of qualifying for finals.

Saturday the top eight in Region 1 competed for their shot to go to Austin. Ta'kaja Robinson started the day off by getting 3rd in the Triple Jump with a PR of 38'0.5".  The 4x100m Relay (Kamryn Gibbs, Zanady Coronado, Xazari Naylor, Ta'kaja Robinson) ran a season best 48.91 to win.  The 4x200m Relay (Kamryn Gibbs, Zanady Coronado, Xazari Naylor, Ta'kaja Robinson) had another season best with a 1:42.55 clinching first.  Last up was the 200m Dash.  TK finished 3rd in a fast final with a time of 24.72.  We will know officially in the next few days but the Triple Jump distance and 200m Dash time from TK has a chance to qualify her for the wildcard slot and a trip to Austin for those events as well.

Thank you for all of your support this season.  Two more weeks of work until we hit the track at the University of Texas in Austin.

The Regional Cross Country Meet was one of the fastest groups collectively I’ve seen since being at Slaton.  The girls and guys divisions were stacked with fast runners. Our region reaches to Spearman in the top of the Panhandle, southwest to Tornillo and east as far as Boyd.  The girls started the day with a solid showing.  Mary Jo Parker qualified for State coming 14th overall and 9th as an individual.  Aryanna Zapata, Natali Soto, Zanady Coronado, Sam Gatica and Justyne Zapata followed.   Our two boy Regional Qualifiers were Tannon Cearley and Zach Gonzales.  Both guys put up their best times of the year and were just :30 back of a State Qualifying time.

Mary Jo will run at the State Meet in Round Rock on Saturday, November 3 at 12:10pm.
